Canvas shoes are what we have made since 1939, and the recipe has not moved much: a cotton canvas upper, a flat rubber sole and the herringbone tread underneath. Low tops for most days, high tops when you want the ankle covered.

We build our canvas sneakers on a vulcanised sole, which means the rubber is bonded to the upper rather than glued as a separate unit. It is why the shoe stays flat and flexes where your foot does. Sizing runs unisex from UK 2 through to UK 13, so the same pair covers men and women. Reach for the Internationals for the original, or the Heritage for the 1970s cut.
White and Black Canvas Trainers
Colour does most of the choosing here. Our white canvas shoes are the ones people picture when they think of a Volley, and the black canvas works where white is too much. Canvas takes a wash, which matters more than it sounds when the shoe lives outdoors. Every pair carries the herringbone outsole, unchanged since 1939, and the leather styles sit alongside them if you want something sturdier.
